Fortson named freshman All-American
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. –- Arkansas point guard Courtney Fortson has been named a freshman All-American by CollegeHoops.net.
Fortson, the top freshman playmaker in the country (No. 18 nationally) with 5.9 assists per game, has been named to CollegeHoops.net's third team.
The first team includes Memphis' Tyreke Evans, Oklahoma's Willie Warren, Washington's Isaiah Thomas, Wake Forest's Al-Farouq Aminu and Georgetown's Greg Monroe. The second team is Liberty's Seth Curry, Virginia's Sylven Landesberg, Southern California's DeMar DeRozan, Nevada's Luke Babbitt and Louisville's Samardo Samuels.

Baseball ready for season to begin
FAYETTEVILLE – Major League pitchers and catchers may not report to camp for another two weeks, but the University of Arkansas Razorback Baseball team begins its preparations for the 2009 season on Sunday afternoon as it conducts its first practice of the year. The Hogs are slated to be on the field of Baum Stadium at 1 p.m. for stretching with practice scheduled for 1:30 p.m., weather permitting.
“We are excited to get started,” Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn said. “We had a good fall and have been looking forward to this ever since.”

Ex-Razorback Cliff Lee wins Cy Young
FAYETTEVILLE – Former Arkansas Razorback baseball player Cliff Lee was a near unanimous choice for Major League baseball's American League Cy-Young Award on Thursday.
Lee, the American League's starting pitcher in the All-Star Game in July, capped off a fantastic season with the Cleveland Indians with the highest honor awarded to a pitcher by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Lee went 22-3 this season with a 2.54 ERA for the Indians. His .880 winning percentage is the third highest in Major League Baseball history according to MLB.com and the lefty became Cleveland's first 20-game winner since Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry in 1974.
